Bills of Costs and Statements of Costs

We regularly prepare Bills of Costs for many of the leading solicitors in their fields. We prepare Bills of Costs at High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court level and have been instructed to deal with costs in numerous nationally publicised cases.

Electronic Bills of Costs

The Electronic Bill of Costs ("eBill") is now compulsory in  multi-track cases in respect of work undertaken from 6 April 2018. The eBill is a complex spreadsheet document and the consequences of mistakes in its preparation can be serious.

With a comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of the eBill and its preparation, proficiency in Excel and other information technology platforms, and years of experience of drafting Bills of Costs in complex, high value litigation, we will prepare your eBill to the highest standard, to ensure your claim for costs begins on the best possible footing.

Costs Budgeting

With extensive experience of  Costs Management in both High Court and County Court litigation, we prepare comprehensive and detailed Costs Budgets which properly reflect the needs of your case and will stand up to the Court's scrutiny. We also prepare supporting Budget Discussion Reports, undertake budget negotiations with the other side and provide costs advocacy at CCMC.

Securing Interim Payments

Many Costs Lawyers and costs drafters wrongly treat interim payments as an afterthought. It is our practice to seek a substantial, early payment on account of costs in every case, and to pursue the appropriate avenues, including the making of an application, if required.

Points of Dispute and Points of Reply

Costs has developed into a highly technical area, requiring detailed and up to date knowledge of the authorities and the CPR. We prepare robust and persuasively argued costs pleadings, based upon detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the facts and circumstances of the case.

Costs Negotiations

As experienced and skilled negotiators, we will work continually to progress your costs proceedings with rigour and alacrity, in order to secure the best possible outcome for you. We will ensure you are kept updated on developments and provide clear and accurate advice on the issues in the case and settlement parameters, leaving you free to focus on your ongoing cases.

Advocacy

We are trained advocates with substantial experience appearing in detailed assessment hearings, costs-related application hearings and CCMCs in the County Court, High Court and Senior Courts Costs Office. As costs law specialists with the benefit of understanding the details of Bill and Budget preparation, we are able to provide well-prepared, persuasive and knowledgeable advocacy in courts across the country, and to accept short notice instructions.
